So I coveted the Nimble mugs that came with boats back in the day, after seeing a picture of one decided to make a few of my own. It got to be a little complicated but I think they came out reasonably well… so if you’re looking to print up a couple of semi-classic Nimble mugs like the ones below:
… here are the directions. Keep in mind these aren’t quite the same spec as
the originals, as I just put two line drawings of the Nimble 20 on the mug, whereas the original had the 20, 24 and the Artic. As always, YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) so don’t hold me (too) accountable if these don’t work out as you hoped.
You’ll need the file I used to create the wraparound image. The file is called “Nimble_20_Wrapped_big.jpg”… you can download it onto your own machine by RIGHT CLICKING THIS LINK and choosing “Save As” (or something similar, depending on what browser you’re using).
It took me a while to find an all black mug that would allow the wrap around image, and I wish I could have found something bigger than the 11oz mug, but this is what I came up with. Looking now I see they have a 15oz mug, not sure if that wasn’t there when I ordered or what??
The website is http://www.customframingandgifts.com
From the menu down the left side choose Beverage Mug Black from the Photo Mugs & Steins group
I ordered the “Beverage Mug – 11oz BLACK” for $14.95 each
Click Customize Now
(Create an account if you want, guess it makes it easier to reorder if you want)
Click Upload/Select Image 1, and upload the file that I created that you downloaded above.
Click Layout and choose mug_07 layout.
Click Background and choose Solid Colors, then choose Black.
On the lower left, delete the text in the two text boxes (they both start out with “Enter Your Text” in them) then click the button “Personalize Your Text then Click Here”.
At that point hopefully your “proof” looks like this screenshot:
You can then add one or more to your order and they’ll go in your shopping cart.
Clear as mud??? Isn’t sailing easier than this stuff ;-)
Anyway, if you have questions get in touch with me.
I’ll be working on t-shirts next.
